Al-Baha's mountains bloom with almond tree blossoms, enhancing picturesque landscapes

Al-Baha, February 04, 2024, The picturesque mountains of the Al-Baha Region come alive with nature's beauty as the white blossoms of almond trees grace the landscape, adding a captivating allure to the lush green scenery. This annual spectacle, occurring during the late winter season, is a source of joy for the local community, enchanted by the sight of hills adorned with a white blanket at the base of the mountains.

The almond tree, celebrated for its resilience in diverse climates and its ability to thrive with minimal water, plays a significant role in enhancing the natural splendor of the region. Its production season aligns with the conclusion of winter, typically marked by ample rainfall. During a single season, an almond tree yields approximately 5 to 6 kilograms of almonds. Prices for these almonds fluctuate throughout the season, starting high, diminishing in the middle, and then rising again toward the end, culminating in a woody light brown color once the season concludes.

Eng. Saeed Almadani, the Director of the Department of Agriculture in Al-Baha Region, highlighted the widespread presence of almond trees in the Sarawat Mountains and the governorates of Baljurashi, Al-Mandaq, Bani Hassan, and nearby villages. He underscored the efforts of the Al-Baha region branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in promoting almond cultivation through initiatives like the Almond City project, covering an extensive area of over 1.5 million square meters. The ministry further supported farmers through educational workshops, enriching their knowledge and providing assistance through programs such as the Reef Program and organic farming. These efforts are geared towards fostering the sustainable development of almond trees, contributing to the region's agricultural prosperity and preserving its natural beauty.
