Council holds virtual meeting to discuss reports and agenda items

Jeddah, March 26, 2024, The Economic and Development Affairs Council recently convened a virtual session to address various reports and matters listed on its agenda.

Among the key topics discussed was a comprehensive briefing by the Ministry of Economy and Planning, providing insights into both local and global economic developments. This encompassed a detailed examination of recent economic indicators, along with an assessment of significant expectations and challenges confronting the global economy. The presentation also underscored the Ministry's viewpoints and recommendations on pertinent economic issues.

Of particular note was the Ministry's in-depth analysis of the Kingdom's economic performance, highlighting positive strides in economic diversification initiatives and the implementation of mega investments. These endeavors are instrumental in positioning the Kingdom's economy to effectively tackle global challenges while fostering sustainable development across all sectors—a testament to the successful execution of the Kingdom Vision 2030 initiatives and objectives, thereby nurturing a robust economy.

Additionally, the council scrutinized a presentation delivered by the National Centre for Performance Measurement (ADAA) concerning the performance of public agencies during the fourth quarter of 2023. This presentation offered a comprehensive overview of agencies' performance, highlighting progress made in measurement and empowerment initiatives. Noteworthy achievements included the provision of support to over 27 government agencies through 150 workshops, review of 300 documents, and issuance of 81 performance reports. Furthermore, the presentation featured an analysis of national strategies' performance and outlined plans for ongoing measurement and monitoring efforts, along with future aspirations for enhancing agency performance assessment.

Concluding the session, the council issued pertinent decisions and recommendations pertaining to the discussed matters, underscoring its commitment to driving economic growth and development initiatives forward.
