GCC Secretary General met Republic of Korea's Ambassador in Riyadh

Riyadh, February 02, 2024, The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, convened with Ambassador Park Joon-yong of the Republic of Korea at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh today. During the meeting, the two dignitaries delved into the advancements of the Free Trade Agreement inked between the GCC nations and the Republic of Korea in December 2023. Their discussions centered around a shared commitment to bolster cooperation, with a particular emphasis on expanding collaborative efforts in education, health, investment, and pharmaceuticals.

Albudaiwi underscored the positive trajectory of economic and trade relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Republic of Korea post the initial signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). This agreement, he noted, is poised to yield economic benefits and gains for both parties involved.

The meeting also touched upon various key topics, including a comprehensive review of relations between the Cooperation Council and the Republic of South Korea. The significance of fortifying strategic dialogue through the outlined areas of cooperation in the Joint Action Plan between the GCC and the Republic of Korea was highlighted. The necessity to intensify productive collaboration, contributing to the common interests of both sides, was emphasized. Furthermore, the gathering addressed the latest regional and international developments, addressing issues of mutual interest.
