Heritage Commission partners with ALECSO to train 100 Arab heritage specialists

Riyadh, January 28, 2024, The Heritage Commission has officially entered into a collaborative agreement with the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) to implement an executive program aimed at training 100 Arab specialists in the field of world heritage. The signing ceremony took place during the ALECSO Forum for Business and Partnerships, an initiative spearheaded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, currently underway in Tunisia over a two-day period.

This agreement signifies a commitment to establishing a platform for the professional development of young experts in the realm of world heritage. The primary goal is to enhance their capabilities and familiarize them with the best international practices within the field. The executive program is designed to create a forum for the exchange of experiences, collaborative workshops, and training courses, covering various aspects of world heritage.

The overarching objective of this initiative is to raise awareness and knowledge by developing joint educational and training programs. These programs will be tailored to professionals and experts, fostering skill development and expertise in the preservation of world heritage. The collaborative efforts aim to leverage the strengths of participating individuals and organizations to uphold international standards and advance the cause of heritage conservation.

The "ALECSO Business and Partnerships Forum" was greenlit by the Executive Council during its 119th session, marking a historic moment in the organization's 53-year history. Unprecedented among regional and international bodies, this initiative revolves around the principles of partnerships and financing. It seeks to provide ALECSO with a robust platform to establish successful partnerships through collective agreements, ensuring the sustainable development of the organization's projects and programs.
