King Salman chairs Cabinet session discusses key matters and decisions

Riyadh, January 09, 2024, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, presided over the Cabinet session held today, during which several important matters were discussed and decisions were made.

The Cabinet was briefed on two written messages received from the president of Belarus, discussing bilateral relations and strategies for enhancing collaboration in various fields.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency after the session, Minister of Media Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari highlighted that the Cabinet addressed regional and international developments. It expressed strong opposition to recent Israeli statements regarding displacing the population of Gaza, reoccupying the Gaza Strip, and building settlements. The Cabinet stressed the need for unified international action to hold the Israeli government accountable for its continuous violation of international legitimacy and humanitarian law.

The Kingdom’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at stabilizing oil markets was reiterated, and the recent statement by OPEC countries and non-OPEC oil-producing countries was praised. The statement reaffirmed the commitment of participating countries to unity, cohesion, and ongoing efforts to maintain oil market stability.

The Cabinet also reviewed indicators of development in key sectors, discussing ways to maximize their role and increase their contribution to the gross domestic product in alignment with the goals of Vision 2030.

Several decisions were issued during the session, including authorizing the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture to discuss and sign a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Belarus for cooperation in the agricultural field. Other approved memoranda of understanding included those for cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Mauritius, and between the Saudi Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy of the Republic of Italy, and the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Chile to promote direct investment.

Additionally, the Cabinet authorized the Minister of Economy and Planning to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for cooperation in the field of public policies. The Cabinet also approved an air services agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Poland, among other decisions.

These decisions aim to strengthen bilateral ties, foster economic cooperation, and enhance collaboration across various sectors.
