Saudi Arabia Takes Active Role in World Radiocommunication Conference 2023
Riyadh, November 20, 2023, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is gearing up for active participation in the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023 (WRC-23), with a delegation led by Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, the Governor of the Communications, Space, and Technology Commission. The delegation, comprised of representatives from government agencies and the private sector, will contribute to discussions on global frequency spectrum utilization in the conference scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 20 to December 15.
With over 4,000 participants from regulatory bodies, government entities, and private organizations expected to attend, the conference's primary objective is to explore ways to enhance the global utilization of the frequency spectrum across various sectors.
The Kingdom's contributions to the conference will showcase its leadership in international domains, with a focus on sustainability in the space sector, empowering radio communications and innovative technologies, and future trends for 6G services. Saudi Arabia will also emphasize the importance of enhancing the utilization of frequency spectrum for services related to international mobile communications, aviation and maritime transport services, and radio and meteorological services.
Leveraging its expertise and active participation in the development of relevant topics, the Kingdom is set to assume leadership roles in the conference, including the presidency of the Radio Regulations Board (RRB) committee.
WRC-23, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) every four years, plays a crucial role in coordinating global efforts and discussions on the allocation of frequency spectrum for various wireless communication types. The conference aims to ensure that future communication technologies meet the needs of global society sustainably.
