Saudia expands operations at Medina airport with Tibah Airports agreement

Saudia, Saudi Arabia's national flag carrier, has recently inked an agreement with Tibah Airports to broaden its operational footprint at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. The signing ceremony saw the participation of His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al Omar, the Director General of Saudia Group, and Dr. Ibrahim Alrajhi, the Chairman of Tibah Airports Operation Co.

This strategic agreement is a significant step for Saudia as it aims to enhance its operational efficiency, increase air traffic, and establish robust connections between Medina and various global capitals and cities. The move is expected to play a crucial role in doubling visitor numbers, particularly given the ongoing developmental projects in Medina. It is also in alignment with Saudia's comprehensive transformation and expansion strategy, which includes the imminent delivery of multiple aircraft in the upcoming years. Moreover, the agreement reaffirms Saudia's unwavering commitment to delivering top-notch services that elevate the overall travel experience, both on the ground and in the air, leveraging the latest advancements in the aviation sector.

Commenting on the agreement, Engr. Ibrahim Al Omar emphasized its significance in supporting the objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, particularly the goal of accommodating 30 million pilgrims by 2030. He also highlighted its alignment with the Saudi Aviation Strategy aimed at enhancing air connectivity to more than 250 destinations. The expansion of services between Madinah and various destinations within and beyond Saudi Arabia is poised to enrich travel experiences and bolster air connectivity significantly.

Dr. Ibrahim Alrajhi expressed his delight regarding Saudia's decision to expand its operations at Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport. He highlighted the strategic importance of this move in solidifying the airport's status as a key gateway to the holy city of Medina, while also enhancing the overall travel journey for pilgrims worldwide. Additionally, he noted that the expansion of Saudia's operations is expected to contribute significantly to the economic growth and development of the region, in addition to boosting the local tourism sector.
