SRCA implements Ramadan emergency plan, prioritizing medical aid near Grand Mosque

Makkah, April 09, 2024, During the holy month of Ramadan, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) meticulously executed its emergency plan, with a focus on providing swift and effective medical assistance in Makkah, particularly around the Grand Mosque area.

SRCA's comprehensive plan involved deploying ground and air ambulance teams strategically, leveraging the expertise of over 1,000 paramedics, emergency medical specialists, and doctors. Additionally, 18 medical control physicians and 5,400 volunteers, representing both genders, dedicated a total of 65,000 hours to ensure the smooth operation of medical services.

The efforts resulted in over 47,000 ambulance trips, with Makkah's medical centers handling 33,561 cases, making it the busiest location during the month. Jeddah followed with 10,193 cases, and Taif ranked third with 3,882 cases attended to.

The air ambulance played a crucial role, operating for 32 and a half hours and transporting 14 critically ill patients to medical care centers.

SRCA's operations were backed by a fleet of more than 80 ambulances equipped with state-of-the-art medical devices, as well as 150 electric scooters, motorcycles, and bicycles, along with 24 golf carts. Additionally, 49 defibrillators and 15 cardiopulmonary resuscitation devices were readily available to handle emergency situations.

Specialized teams specializing in rapid response, event and crisis management, and audio-video communication were actively involved, ensuring seamless coordination with the command, control, and medical relay center.

For those in need of emergency medical assistance, SRCA remains accessible via phone at 997 and through the "Asefne" application, reaffirming its commitment to serving the community during critical times.
