"Weqa" CEO leads Saudi delegation to date conference in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, February 28, 2024, Eng. Ayman bin Saad Al-Ghamdi, the CEO of the Saudi National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases known as "Weqa," led the delegation representing Saudi Arabia at the conference of agriculture ministers from date-producing and -processing countries. The conference, held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), concluded today under the supervision of Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dahhak, the UAE Minister of Climate Change and the Environment.

The two-day event saw the participation of numerous ministers and senior officials responsible for agricultural affairs, along with representatives from Arab, regional, and international organizations, bodies, and centers.

Throughout the conference, attendees examined the progress made in the regional program aimed at combating the red palm weevil, a initiative spearheaded by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Discussions centered on the feedback provided by delegation heads regarding the program, and notable outcomes and findings were presented for consideration.
