Zambian President meets Saudi Minister Al-Fadhli for diplomatic discussions in Lusaka

Lusaka, February 28, 2024, In a significant diplomatic meeting, President Hakainde Hichilema of the Republic of Zambia welcomed Minister of Environment, Agriculture, and Water, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Fadhli, along with his accompanying delegation at the Republican Presidential Palace in Lusaka.

During the reception, Eng. Al-Fadhli conveyed warm greetings from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They expressed their sincere wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the government and people of the Republic of Zambia.

In a reciprocal gesture, President Hichilema requested Eng. Al-Fadhli to convey his heartfelt greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, HRH the Crown Prince, and the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The discussions between the Zambian president and the Saudi minister revolved around various areas of potential cooperation between the two nations. Topics included agriculture, fisheries, animal wealth, food security, water resources, and the signing of agreements to strengthen coordination between officials. The meeting drew inspiration from the outcomes of the Saudi-African Summit held in November 2023, underscoring the commitment of both countries to fortify their partnership in these vital sectors.

The discussions were aligned with the shared objective of Saudi Arabia and Zambia to enhance collaboration and joint investments in the fields of environment, water, and agriculture. Their mutual focus is on achieving sustainability in the utilization of natural resources, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for citizens in both nations. This meeting not only builds upon diplomatic ties but also signifies a commitment to fostering development, cooperation, and sustainability between Saudi Arabia and Zambia.
