5th Aramco Saudi Ladies International Golf Tournament tees off soon

Riyadh, February 13, 2024, The eagerly anticipated 5th edition of the Aramco Saudi Ladies International (ASLI), a flagship professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour (LET) presented by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), is set to tee off at the esteemed Riyadh Golf Club from February 15 to 18. This prestigious event is poised to attract a stellar lineup of international players, including renowned golfing luminaries such as Lexi Thompson, Carlota Ciganda, and Trichat Cheenglab.

The ASLI tournament continues to make waves in the world of golf, with a staggering prize purse totaling $5 million. Last year's edition witnessed a thrilling showdown, with Lydia Ko emerging victorious over formidable competitors like Thompson.

Lexi Thompson, the prodigious American golfing sensation, has long been recognized for her formidable talent and steely resolve on the course. Renowned for her ability to thrive under pressure, Thompson made headlines at the tender age of 12 when she became the youngest player to compete in the US Women's Open Golf Championship. With two LET victories under her belt already, Thompson is poised to add another triumph to her illustrious career in Riyadh.

Thompson emphasized the significance of the ASLI tournament in advancing the sport, not just in Saudi Arabia but on a global scale. She expressed her enthusiasm for participating in an event that champions equality in prize purses, further underscoring the tournament's progressive ethos.

Carlota Ciganda, a stalwart of the Solheim Cup, is no stranger to the winner's circle. With an impressive track record that includes a T3 finish in the KPMG Women's PGA Championship and leading her team to victory in the Aramco Team Series (ATS) presented by PIF, Ciganda is primed to vie for her maiden ASLI title.

Reflecting on her return to Riyadh Golf Club, where she previously tasted success in the ATS, Ciganda expressed her determination to replicate her winning performance and add another accolade to her illustrious resume.

Joining the fray is emerging Thai sensation Trichat Cheenglab, whose meteoric rise in the LET has captured the imagination of golfing enthusiasts worldwide. Fresh off her triumph as the 2023 LET Order of Merit winner, Cheenglab is poised to make her mark in her inaugural ASLI appearance, eager to challenge the sport's elite and contribute to the burgeoning landscape of ladies' golf in Saudi Arabia.

Cheenglab's participation underscores the tournament's status as a premier event that not only elevates the sport but also fosters inclusivity and diversity within the golfing community. She expressed her honor at joining the tournament and her determination to leave an indelible impression, learn from her peers, and further enrich the vibrant tapestry of women's golf in the Kingdom.
