Padang, in the West Sumatra province of Indonesia, was the site of a volunteer medical project for pediatric cardiac surgery completed by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).
According to SPA, the project took place from July 24 to 31, 2026, with the participation of 16 volunteers from various medical specialties.
The medical team examined 53 patients and successfully performed 25 open-heart surgeries and two cardiac catheterizations. Additionally, the team conducted 58 electrocardiograms (ECG), two CT scans, and interpreted 30 scanners.
Knowledge transfer was provided to 200 local staff and medical students across more than four specialties, including cardiology, intensive care, nursing, and respiratory care. This initiative is part of the humanitarian and relief efforts implemented by the Kingdom through KSrelief to support the medical sector and patients with heart diseases in brotherly and friendly countries.
