Makkah is hosting the 46th session of the King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting and Interpreting the Holy Quran under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
According to SPA, the event is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. It features 334 male and female contestants from 133 countries, which is the largest turnout in the history of the competition.
The competition consists of five categories with a total prize pool of SAR10,260,000, the highest amount since the competition launched. For the first time, independent competitions for female participants are being held at the Makkah Hilton Hotel & Convention, while the Grand Mosque will host the male category finals and the closing ceremony.
The event runs until Rabi Al-Awwal 6, 1448 AH, aiming to encourage young Muslims to memorize, comprehend, and reflect upon the Holy Quran while highlighting Saudi Arabia’s efforts in serving the Quran and honoring its memorizers.
