Washington hosted the G20 Innovation Ministerial Meeting where a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha, concluded its participation.
According to SPA, the Kingdom emphasized the need for an AI age that protects human creativity and expands capabilities. The delegation called for an enabling environment for innovation to foster growth and prosperity while ensuring AI opportunities are accessible to all.
Saudi remarks focused on safeguarding intellectual property and creators’ rights to protect human creativity. The Kingdom advocated for clear regulatory frameworks to provide AI a lawful path for growth and the development of standards to strengthen trust, facilitate technology movement across markets, and reduce regulatory duplication.
The Kingdom also highlighted the importance of expanding global capacity in manufacturing, connectivity, and computing. This includes strengthening investment and diversifying supply chains to build a resilient global ecosystem and prevent the widening of the AI divide between economies.
Saudi Arabia contributed to G20 Innovation Working Group discussions regarding AI-related standards, policies that support innovation, and investment in technology supply chains and infrastructure. These contributions aimed to advance international cooperation and support a competitive and inclusive global economy in the Intelligence Age.
