Arab Parliament supports Arab-China development cooperation

Cairo is the site of a statement by the Arab Parliament praising the tangible results of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) on its fifth anniversary. The initiative, introduced by Chinese President Xi Jinping, is described as a platform for strengthening international cooperation, supporting sustainable development, and exchanging experiences to achieve global development goals.

According to SPA, Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi stated that the GDI has placed development at the center of the international agenda. He noted that this approach helps address economic, social, and developmental challenges facing nations, particularly developing countries and the Global South.

Al-Yamahi welcomed four proposals made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a high-level GDI meeting in Beijing on July 28, 2026. These proposals focus on fostering a peaceful environment for development, accelerating sustainable development goals, supporting innovation through mutual learning, and adhering to multilateralism to improve global governance.

The Arab Parliament expressed full support for the GDI and efforts to turn sustainable development goals into concrete results. The speaker expressed hope for continued cooperation with the People’s Republic of China and international partners to enhance Arab-Chinese collaboration in economic, developmental, investment, technological, scientific, and cultural fields.
