Makkah is hosting 334 participants from 133 countries for the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran.
According to SPA, the event is organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. The participants include 202 men and 132 women, marking the first time women have participated in the competitions. The men’s competitions are held at the Grand Mosque, while the women’s section takes place at the Hilton Conference Hotel.
The current edition utilizes modern technology and artificial intelligence, featuring robots with interactive screens that provide competition information in more than 90 languages to participants and visitors. A total of 50 winners, including five winners in each category, will be selected.
Total prizes for this session have increased to 10,260,000 Saudi riyals. An exhibition detailing the history and development stages of the competition is also on display.
