Mohammed VI International Quran Competition begins in Rabat

Rabat hosted the start of the 20th edition of the Mohammed VI International Prize for the Memorization, Recitation, Tajweed, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran.

According to SPA, the event was attended by government officials, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Ambassador to Morocco Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh, ambassadors from several Arab and Islamic countries, ICESCO Director General Dr. Salim bin Mohammed AlMalik, and a group of scholars.

The competition features 83 memorizers, reciters, and performers from 53 countries across five continents. The contests are scheduled to continue for three days.

The competition is divided into two main sections. The first focuses on the full memorization of the Holy Quran along with recitation and interpretation, while the second involves the memorization of five consecutive parties along with Tajweed and quality of recitation.

The event aims to enhance service to the Holy Quran, encourage memorization and reflection, follow the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad in recitation and learning, and familiarize participants with rhetorical aspects and religious rulings.
