The Grand Mosque in Makkah is hosting the final rounds of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran.
According to SPA, the event was opened by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh. The competition is organized by the ministry under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
A total of 334 contestants from 133 countries are participating in this session. This includes 202 male contestants and 132 female contestants, marking the first time in the history of the competition that a dedicated section for women has been added.
The Minister stated that efforts over the last eight years to develop the competition have resulted in increasing the number of winners from 12 to 50. The total value of the prizes has risen to 10,260,000 riyals.
