Umm Al-Qura University launches living museums program in Makkah

Makkah is hosting the first edition of the living museums enrichment program at the Umm Al-Qura University Cultural Front. The initiative coincides with International Youth Day and focuses on supporting culture and tourism related to the historical and heritage sites of the city.

According to SPA, the eight-day program combines theoretical and practical approaches to strengthen heritage culture among youth. It introduces participants to the tangible and intangible heritage of Makkah, highlighting its civilization legacy and historical sites to encourage preservation for future generations.

The program includes activities such as live demonstrations, training, and theoretical lessons in visual arts and humanities related to the history of Makkah. Participants engage with cultural content through a scientific lens to develop their skills.

The initiative emphasizes cultural tourism by familiarizing participants with techniques for conserving heritage sites and collections. It aims to stimulate interest in creative activities and local terroir through a cognitive experience.
