TGA reports 38 million train passengers in Q2 2026

More than 38 million passengers traveled on trains across Saudi Arabia during the second quarter of 2026, according to the Transport General Authority (TGA).

SPA reported that 3.7 million tonnes of minerals and goods were transported during the same period, alongside 47,000 standard containers.

Urban and Regional Rail Traffic

Urban rail transport recorded 36 million passengers. This included 29.7 million for the Riyadh Metro, 1.9 million for the Holy Sites Metro, nearly 3.9 million for the King Abdulaziz International Airport automated train, and 635,000 for the Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University train.

The Haramain High Speed Railway transported 1.6 million passengers, while the East train recorded 389,000 and the North train nearly 246,000 passengers.

Regarding freight, SAR North trains transported 3.3 million tonnes, while SAR East trains transported 396,000 tonnes and 47,000 standard containers.
