Three land routes starting from Jeddah, Madinah, and Tabuk allow visitors to AlUla during the summer to explore the natural and cultural diversity of the Kingdom, passing through Red Sea coasts, volcanic terrains, and desert landscapes.
According to SPA, the highway network and car rental services provide visitors with flexibility to choose routes and stop at destinations along the way.
The first route from Jeddah to AlUla follows the Red Sea coast, passing through Yanbu, known for its corniche and diving activities, and the Red Sea destination. It continues to Al-Wajh, which features a historic town and maritime heritage, before heading east toward the AlUla oasis. The direct distance between Jeddah and AlUla is approximately 700 kilometers, taking seven to eight hours, while the final leg from Al-Wajh to AlUla is about 245 kilometers, taking three to four hours.
The second route from Madinah to AlUla via Khaybar covers approximately 383 kilometers and takes four to five hours. This path features rugged terrain and ancient volcanic lava fields. Khaybar is located 150 to 170 kilometers from Madinah and serves as a stop to discover Harrat Khaybar.
