The Strait of Hormuz was the site of attacks on two tankers belonging to the UAE-based company ADNOC, which Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned.
According to SPA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the incident as an unacceptable repetition of Iranian attacks against commercial ships and tankers. The Ministry stated that these repeated attacks represent a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to maritime navigation security and global energy supply security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs further noted that the action is a serious violation of international laws and norms, and a clear challenge to UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which emphasizes the need to respect the rights and freedom of commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
Saudi Arabia held Iran fully responsible for the consequences of these continued attacks and called for an immediate stop to such actions. The Kingdom emphasized that regional security and international shipping safety are shared responsibilities and that these attacks cannot be accepted or overlooked.
The statement concluded by expressing full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and support for all measures taken by the UAE to preserve its sovereignty, security, and resources.
