Council of Senior Scholars holds 99th session

Taif hosted the 99th session of the Council of Senior Scholars, chaired by the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, President of the Council of Senior Scholars, and General President of Scientific Research and Ifta, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan.

According to SPA, the meeting was attended by the Council members and its Secretary-General. During the opening speech, Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan noted the support provided by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, which enables the Council to carry out its scientific and Sharia duties, study referred topics, and issue appropriate Sharia decisions.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Fahd bin Saad Al-Majid, explained that the agenda for the 99th session includes topics received from the royal court, government entities, and the Permanent Committee for Ifta. He stated that preparations began after the previous session through the formation of advisory committees consisting of Council members and specialists to provide expert views.

The General Secretariat also prepared peer-reviewed research on the agenda items with the participation of specialists and experts to examine all aspects of the topics. The Council continues to conduct extensive scientific and Sharia studies on these items to reach its final conclusions.
