Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) operates the Sarah Al-Sudairi Center for Women’s Studies as a national research hub to align scientific research with national priorities for women’s empowerment in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
According to SPA, the center focuses on four strategic pillars: developing female leaders, supporting specialized research, documenting the contributions of Saudi women, and providing evidence-based insights for policymakers.
The research agenda covers seven core themes, including health, social issues, cultural roles, environment and sustainable development, gender balance and equal opportunities, supporting legislation, and technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The center has provided consultations, studies, and specialized initiatives to the public, faculty, students, researchers, and non-profit, private, and public organizations.
Achievements include the delivery of 11 educational and community awareness initiatives and the publication of a book on Saudi women’s empowerment in French, English, and Arabic. The center also concluded its first research funding cycle, resulting in three peer-reviewed papers covering education, health, the labor market, empowerment, and people with disabilities.
The center hosts international and local delegations and participates in specialized conferences to expand collaborative partnerships and support PNU’s mission to strengthen the national knowledge economy.
