Al-Hazimi Mosque restoration begins in Al-Aflaj

Al-Aflaj Governorate is the site of the second phase of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historic Mosques, which focuses on restoring the Al-Hazimi Mosque.

According to SPA, the mosque was built more than a century ago and is among the oldest in the region. The structure was constructed using natural materials and traditional mud-building techniques designed for the local desert climate.

The restoration aims to preserve the mosque’s original architectural integrity and its distinctive Najdi style. The site previously served as a hub for cultural exchange and learning, and it can accommodate up to 110 worshippers.

This work is part of a broader initiative to safeguard historic mosques in the Kingdom to ensure their sustainability.
