Jeddah hosted the third planning meeting of the Multinational Maritime Defense Coalition (MMDC) at the Western Fleet Command, with representatives from 39 countries in attendance.
According to SPA, 15 countries signed a joint declaration, with 13 of those completing national procedures and signing the MMDC charter to officially announce their membership. This move transitions the coalition into its institutional and operational implementation phase, while other countries continue their national membership procedures.
The coalition has appointed a commander from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and agreed to designate a deputy commander from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for the first term. Additional institutional progress includes the designation of the MMDC command headquarters, the adoption of its emblem, and the completion of planning frameworks and reference documents.
The meeting finalized practical arrangements for the MMDC organs and its multinational command. This prepares for the integration of officers and personnel from member states into the joint command and staff structure, the Joint Maritime Operations and Coordination Center, and the MMDC Intelligence Center to develop operational capabilities for defensive missions in its area of responsibility.
