The esplanades of the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina were the site of a life-saving intervention where a 40-year-old Nigerian Umrah pilgrim was rescued after suffering a cardiac and respiratory arrest on Thursday evening.
According to SPA, emergency medical teams from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) reached the patient in 32 seconds. Dr. Omar Al-Attas, the acting general director of the SRCA branch in the Medina region, stated that teams immediately evaluated the patient and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation following approved medical protocols.
An additional emergency medical support team was dispatched to the scene. After stabilizing the pilgrim and restoring his pulse, the teams transported him to the Al-Safiyah health center, where he was handed over to medical staff.
Dr. Al-Attas noted that the intervention’s success resulted from the coordination between the medical regulation center and emergency teams, as well as the training of SRCA personnel. He urged the public to report medical emergencies quickly to help save lives.
