More than 85,968 mosques across Saudi Arabia are now covered by a new electronic system and a specialized application for mosque employees launched by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance.
The platform was launched by Minister Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh at the ministry’s headquarters in cooperation with Zain. According to SPA, the system serves 13 branches across 151 cities and governorates, benefiting approximately 14,647 users.
The system is designed to unify data and processes, improve information quality, and provide documented reports to support monitoring and decision-making. It covers the full lifecycle of a mosque, including identifying needs, receiving public donations for construction, registration, operation, field monitoring, maintenance, and asset management.
Field visits are a primary focus of the system, allowing male and female monitors to use an application to document and confirm visit results based on the mosque’s geographic location. The platform also integrates with the Masajid application for the general public, which allows users to search for mosques, view opportunities for cleaning and maintenance participation, determine the Qibla direction, and check prayer times.
During its pilot phase, the system recorded 3,601,912 monitoring visits. This total includes 2,866,570 visits by monitors, 594,956 visits by female monitors, 88,164 Friday prayer visits, 32,732 unusual visits, 19,155 visits to Eid prayer areas, and 335 visits to vacant lands.
